A Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has directed that DNA tests be conducted on Liam Aloba, the two-year-old son of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The ruling was delivered on Tuesday, September 2, by Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga in response to an application filed by the late singer’s father, Joseph Aloba. Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, was named as the respondent in the suit.
During the hearing, Joseph Aloba’s counsel, Augustine Adegbemi, presented the motion before the court. Counsel to Omowunmi, Kabir Akingbolu, raised no objection to the application.
Magistrate Sonuga subsequently ordered that two separate DNA tests be carried out — one in Nigeria and the other abroad. Both tests are to be conducted at accredited medical facilities, with representatives of both parties present during the collection of samples.
The matter was adjourned to November 11 for further proceedings.
