The Bible says we should not forsake brethren’s gathering. It is on this note that I have been looking for the right Church to worship with fellow brethren. Behold! I discovered one at Inucocoa, Bodija, Ojurin in Ibadan, and my instinct told me I was at the right place to worship.

The name of the church is Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) Aduramigba Parish. To some, they go to church during crises in their lives, especially in the Celestial Church, but to me, I went to seek Christ who saves souls.

It’s just been a few weeks in the church, and the church’s priest, the Shepherd, and Most Superior Evangelist, Sesan Ademola, beckoned me in the church that I’ll be the Santa Claus in the church. His reason was that I was new in the church, and it would be difficult for members to easily identify me. So, I concurred as part of my little work for Christ.

It was a glorious day in the church on Sunday, December 17, 2023. The children were so elated, while many were curious to know who was in the Santa’s costume.
As I put on the red suit and white beard, I could feel the joy and excitement enveloping the church. The children’s eyes sparkled with anticipation, eagerly awaiting their turn to sit on Santa’s lap and receive a gift.

As I walked into the main hall, a wave of laughter and clapping greeted me. The entire congregation was filled with an infectious spirit of happiness and unity. The choir serenaded the church with beautiful Christmas carols, filling the air with melodious tunes that lifted the souls of those present.

One by one, the children approached me, their wide smiles accompanied by whispers of their Christmas wishes. Some asked for toys, others for bright, colorful clothes, and some simply wished for good health and blessings for their families. Each request filled my heart with warmth, reminding me of the true meaning of Christmas – love, kindness, and spreading joy to others.

As the day went on, word began to spread throughout the community about the Santa Claus at Celestial Church. Families from neighboring areas flocked to the church, hoping to capture a glimpse of the festive spirit that had taken hold. Grandparents held the hands of their grandchildren, guiding them towards the vibrant atmosphere within the church walls.

Even the elders, who were initially skeptical of the idea, couldn’t help but get caught up in the excitement. Soon they were laughing and dancing, forgetting their worries and relishing in the pure joy that radiated through the church.

The day continued, with the church filled to capacity. Everyone, young and old, took part in the festivities, shedding their worries and embracing the happiness that came with the Christmas season. It was a surreal sight to behold, seeing the transformation of a solemn religious gathering into a vibrant celebration of love and togetherness.

As the day drew to a close, I looked around at the faces of the congregation, illuminated with joy. It was clear that we had created a memory that would be cherished for years to come.

As I took off the Santa costume, the church members approached me, thanking me for being the Santa Claus and for bringing such delight to their lives. I could only smile and reply that it was my privilege and honor to serve in whatever capacity I could, spreading love and joy to those around me.

As I walked out of the church that afternoon, my heart overflowed with gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of such a remarkable experience. In the midst of my own search for spiritual fulfillment, I had found a place where worship and celebration intertwined harmoniously. The Celestial Church of Christ, Aduramigba Parish had welcomed me with open arms, allowing me to contribute in a unique and meaningful way.

As I headed home, I knew deep within my soul that I had found not just a place to worship, but a community that would forever hold a special place in my heart. The Celestial Church had shown me the true essence of Christmas – the joy of selflessly giving and the beauty of coming together as one. And for that, I would forever be grateful.
