Several individuals were reportedly injured when a group of hoodlums attacked and disrupted a Ramadan Lecture in Oyo town.
A video currently circulating online shows distressed Muslim faithful lamenting the injuries and trauma inflicted upon them following the attack.
The exact motive behind the attack remains unclear at the time of this report. However, some sources suggest that a religious leader may have been the primary target.
In response, Engr. Abduljelyl Adekunle Kareem, MCIArb, MCIOB, MCAB, the Turaki Adini of Oyo State and Mogaji of the Adanla family, has issued a stern warning to those behind the dastard act.
Adanla, as the Islamic leader is popularly known, in a short video, demanded an apology from those responsible, cautioning that failure to do so would invite divine retribution.
He stated: “I have a message for those who attacked the Ramadan Lecture gathering in Oyo. It’s clearly written in the Quran that whoever inflict pain of any kind on Muslim faithful, male or female, is guaranteed of inevitable consequences from Almighty Allah.
“Regardless of the underlying reason—whether political or otherwise—you should never attack individuals attending a religious lecture, especially during Ramadan when they are already enduring fasting. If the attackers do not apologize, they will suffer because no gathering of religious worshippers should ever be targeted, even in times of war.
“If you have a personal grievance with a religious leader, there are appropriate ways to address it, such as filing a petition,” Alhaji Kareem warned.
