Popular DJ, Iwuagwu Ebere, who is professionally known as Commissioner DJ Wysei, has been remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Center until May 8. The remand comes after an alleged assault on police officers at the Elemoro police station in Ajah on Monday, April 15.
It all began when DJ Wysei visited the police station to report a man who had allegedly defrauded her. The man was promptly arrested and has been in police custody since.
On Wednesday, April 17, DJ Wysei was invited by the police to determine if she wanted the suspect to be charged or released on bail. According to a police source, it is against the law to detain an accused for more than 48 hours without charging them. The DJ reportedly insisted that all she wanted was for the accused to apologize, which she would record and post online. However, the accused refused to comply, leading to a stalemate between both parties.
The decision was then made to take the matter to court since no agreement could be reached. As the officers were preparing to transport the accused to court, DJ Wysei allegedly used her vehicle to block the entrance of the police station and assaulted the female officers involved in the case. Consequently, she was arrested for obstructing police duties, resisting arrest, and assaulting police officers.
The accused was taken to court and subsequently remanded in prison custody. DJ Wysei, on the other hand, was arraigned at the Magistrate court in Eti-Osa for obstructing police officers and assaulting them. The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that DJ Wysei has been remanded in prison.
The incident has caused quite a stir in the community, with DJ Wysei and her bouncers, who allegedly aided and abetted her, facing serious consequences for their actions.
