A five-year-old girl named Moridiya Rauf has survived a successful surgery after being attacked by a dog in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident occurred on Monday in the Adagbada Arola area of Apete. Moridiya was rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, where she underwent a surgery on Wednesday at the Main Theatre.
Contrary to earlier reports that Moridiya had died, the surgery was successful, and she is currently recovering at the Children’s Ward of the hospital.
“The surgery was carried out on Wednesday and it was successful. Our daughter survived it,” said the younger sister of Moridiya’s father, who did not wish to be named.
The family member stated that although the surgery took a long time, they are grateful that everything went well. Moridiya is said to be in full cognition and was observed by the Nigerian Tribune eating rice.
“When she came out of the theatre, we spoke to her and her responses were normal. She recognized her father, mother, and other family members,” the family member added.
The parents and close relatives of Moridiya have been seen at the hospital, taking care of her and ensuring she has everything she needs during her recovery.
