A tragic incident occurred in Alapere, Lagos when a fully loaded 40ft articulated truck fell onto a Nissan Car, resulting in the death of a woman. The driver and his conductor fled the scene to escape an angry mob.

The woman, who was seated in the back of the car, died instantly, while the driver of the car miraculously escaped unhurt. The body of the deceased has been transported to a mortuary.

Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department at the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), confirmed the incident. Taofiq revealed that the driver of the truck and his motor-boy fled immediately after the fatal accident occurred.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the fully loaded truck was speeding when he lost control and collided with the moving Nissan car near N.N.P.C along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Alapere, Ogudu, Lagos.

Officials from various emergency response agencies, including the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and the Police, were at the scene of the accident. The body was later handed over to the Alapere Police Station.

Also present at the accident scene were Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Hakeem Adeosun, the Director of Traffic Incidents, Event Monitoring, Enforcement and Compliance at LASTMA, and the LASTMA rescue team.
