In a press release issued by the State House, President Bola Tinubu expressed his commitment to reforming Nigeria for greater efficiency, fairness, and equity in all aspects of the country’s life. Speaking during a meeting with Afenifere leaders in Akure, Ondo State, President Tinubu emphasized his dedication to leading Nigeria towards economic and social prosperity.

Assuring Nigerians that the nation will overcome its current economic challenges, President Tinubu stated, “There is light at the end of the tunnel. I requested the job, and I am not complaining about it. I take full responsibility.” He also reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations to the international community, emphasizing that the country would navigate the challenges it faces on the road to prosperity without defaulting on its loans.

President Tinubu outlined his plans for reforming Nigeria, highlighting the importance of fiscal and true federalism while ensuring fairness for all. He stressed the need for a balanced approach, stating, “What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.”

Acknowledging the patience and support of Nigerians during these tough economic times, President Tinubu assured them that their perseverance would not be in vain. Drawing from his experience as the former governor of Lagos State, he expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to flourish. “As the former governor of Lagos State, I faced similar calls for my resignation. But, through perseverance, Lagos emerged as the fifth largest economy in the entire continent of Africa. We must manage this moment with wisdom and grow Nigeria responsibly,” he affirmed.

President Tinubu also addressed the issue of exploiting Nigeria’s economy and stated his determination to re-engineer the country’s finances while fighting against selfish interests. He emphasized the importance of curbing economic exploitation and ensuring the prosperity of the nation.

In response, Afenifere, represented by Pa Olu Falae, commended President Tinubu for his commitment to Nigeria’s progress and voiced their support for his administration’s efforts. Pa Fasoranti, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, urged President Tinubu to remain fair and courageous, highlighting these traits as the core values of the Afenifere family.

The press release concluded by reiterating President Tinubu’s determination to serve Nigeria’s interests and deliver a good government. It emphasized his commitment to building an efficient and inclusive Nigeria that benefits all Nigerians.
