Former Minister of Communications and well-known legal figure in Ibadan, Barr. Adebayo Shittu, has expressed his condolences over the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun.

In a statement released on Friday, Barr. Shittu described Oba Balogun as a father figure who had lived a commendable life.

In his statement, Barr. Shittu acknowledged Oba Balogun’s impressive background as a lecturer, a knowledgeable politician with a degree in political science, a former senator, and a Chairman of a political party. He added that he had known Oba Balogun for 35 years, both during his time in Lagos and Ibadan, and regarded him as a father figure. The news of his passing deeply saddened Barr. Shittu.

Undeterred by the inevitable nature of death, Barr. Shittu expressed his hope that Oba Balogun’s passing would not be in vain. He prayed that God would forgive any shortcomings and provide solace to the bereaved family. Barr. Shittu also prayed for the continued progress of Ibadanland, stating his belief that Oba Balogun’s death would not bring misfortune to the land.
