The legal community is mourning the sudden passing of Adesina Ogunlana, the former chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association’s (NBA) Ikeja branch. Ogunlana, who was 60 years old, died on Tuesday, August 6.
Just a week prior, Ogunlana had celebrated his 60th birthday at the branch secretariat on Saturday, July 27. His death was confirmed in a statement released by Issa Adedokun, the current secretary of the NBA Ikeja Branch.
The statement read, “The Executive Committee regrets to announce the sudden passage of our beloved Leader, Adesina Ogunlana, Esq. (Past Chairman (2016 – 2018), who passed on yesterday the 6th of AUGUST 2024. We are deeply saddened by this transition but comforted by the fact that, our dear Leader lived an exemplary life worthy of emulation by all.”
Ogunlana was known for his legal work, including representing the convicted actor Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha. The branch’s statement praised his contributions to the legal profession and the country.
Burial arrangements for Ogunlana will be announced once confirmed by his immediate family. The NBA Ikeja Branch expressed their condolences and asked the public to remember his family in their prayers during this difficult time.
