The family of veteran Yoruba actress, Peju Ogunmola, has dismissed widespread reports claiming that her only son, Sola Ayomikun Omobolanle, died in a bathroom accident.
In a statement signed by family representative, Yemi Amodu, the bereaved family described such reports as false and hurtful, clarifying that the late Sola had been briefly unwell before his passing.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Sola Ayomikun Omobolanle (son of Sunday & Peju Ogunmola Omobolanle), a jewel, a precious child, and a rising star whose light shone brightly and touched many lives,” the statement read.
The family further explained that Sola received “first-class medical care” during his illness but eventually passed away peacefully at a hospital in Ibadan, despite the best efforts of the medical team. He has since been laid to rest at Eternal Rest Home.
The family strongly urged the public to disregard the “unfounded claims being spread by some bloggers,” stressing that the misinformation not only dishonours Sola’s memory but also causes unnecessary pain to his loved ones.
“At this time of grief, we are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support we have received from family, friends, colleagues and well-wishers. Your kindness has been a source of strength and comfort,” the statement added.
The family concluded with prayers for Sola’s eternal rest and strength to bear the irreparable loss.
