The Lagos State Police Command apprehended popular musician Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, on Tuesday. The arrest came as a result of Portable’s failure to settle a debt incurred when he purchased a G-Wagon from a car dealer in the state.

Reports indicate that Portable only paid N13 million out of the N27 million cost of the vehicle and has since refused to pay the remaining N14 million. Allegedly, Portable has been attributing his non-payment to claims that the vehicle he purchased was faulty.

Upon numerous attempts by the car dealer to recover the outstanding balance, and with Portable failing to cooperate, the dealer resorted to reporting the matter to the authorities. Subsequently, law enforcement officials investigated the case and proceeded to arrest Portable.

Confirming the arrest, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated, “Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought a G-Wagon for N27 million, paid N13 million, and failed to pay the rest, alleging that the vehicle was defective. We apprehended him today.”
