The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has issued a statement in response to reports surrounding the death of 24-year-old Priscilla Ocheme. Ocheme was found deceased in Abuja after visiting a male friend.

According to family members, Priscilla was last seen on September 22, 2024, after leaving her family home in Karu following a minor dispute with her mother. She had gone to the residence of EKHOSUEHI ISEH ELVIS, a former university acquaintance from Madonna University. Later that evening, as she was returning home, she was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident at the AMALA MOORE junction in Pyakasa.

Two laborers working nearby, Jerry Amos and Moses Bala, witnessed the accident and rushed Ocheme to the Pyakasa Health Centre, where she was later transferred to the Federal Medical Centre Jabi. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Activist Harrison Gwamnishu was contacted by Priscilla’s family, who expressed concerns over the circumstances of her death and sought his assistance in pursuing justice. They have accused the police of attempting to cover up the true nature of her passing amid speculation of foul play.

In a statement released on October 22, Police Spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh refuted claims of a cover-up, insisting that the investigation concluded Ocheme’s death was the result of an accident. The police have confirmed that EKHOSUEHI ISEH ELVIS, a 30-year-old man from Oredo, Benin, was questioned during the investigation as a familiar figure in Priscilla’s life.

“The FCT Police Command prides itself on its professionalism and integrity in investigative processes,” Adeh stated. “We remain committed to ensuring a comprehensive and fair investigation, prioritizing the safety and justice for victims.”

The police urged the public for understanding as they work to clarify the situation further, promising to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
