The Nigerian Federal Government has implemented a new educational initiative in smart schools across the country.

The initiative, known as Design Thinking, Coding, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence (DTCRA), aims to equip students with the necessary skills to support Nigeria’s technological development.

Dr Hamid Bobboyi, the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), revealed this during a workshop on integrating DTCRA into the smart schools program.

The introduction of these programs in classrooms will foster critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills among students.

The goal of UBEC is to develop globally competitive learners through the integration of DTCRA in smart schools. The workshop brought together experts from academia, the private sector, and UBEC to brainstorm the most effective ways to integrate these skills into the educational system.

UBEC has already established 37 smart schools across Nigeria, with 14 schools currently operational. These smart schools employ modern teaching methods and state-of-the-art technologies to enhance learning outcomes.
