Fire Prevention Week: Oyo Govt. Calls for Caution as Dry Season is fast Approaching

The General Manager Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Reverend Akinyemi Akinyinka has advised people of the State to be vigilant as the dry season is fast Approaching.

He stated this during the 2024 fire prevention week with the Theme “Good House Keeping, Panacea to Effective Fire Safety” held at the agency’s premises, Secretariat, Ibadan.

He appealed to the officers of the agency to make use of the practical knowledge of putting fire under control, hinting that, the experience of newly recruited officers garnered during their practical training at the Oyo State Fire Training School would help the State to control the fire outbreak.

Reverend Akinyinka enjoined officers of the agency to be dedicated to their duties and stay away from any act that can jeopardize their career in the system that produced them.

He said “we are celebrating 2024 international Day for Fire prevention, we are using the opportunity of the day to sensitize our men on fire prevention control, we have started the sensitization since a month ago when we have carried out the fire Safety control to the various markets and the seven Geo- Political zones of the State”.

Speaking at the event, A Former Director of the agency Elder Kolade emphasized the need for the good house Keeping, saying that if fire drops and nothing to trigger it, there will not be fire disaster.

He said carelessness, smoking in bed, throwing cigarette light around, burning bushes is the courses of the fire out break in the society.
