A 39-year-old fruit seller, Dolapo Babalola, has confessed to the police that he used to kill some of his victims whenever they recognized him. Babalola would drag their motorcycles with them and cut parts of their bodies for ritual purposes.
Babalola was arrested and paraded alongside his herbalists, accomplices, and other 16 criminal suspects at the state police headquarters in Akure, the state capital. He admitted to killing his intimate friend and snatching his motorcycle at Oke-Igbo, in the Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo local government area of the state, and also confessed to have killed five persons, including his cousin.
Narrating his modus operandi, Babalola said, “Whenever they recognize me, I will drag and kill them and their motorcycles with a stick and cut parts of their bodies for rituals.” He revealed that he had been in the trade since 2021 and carried out his operations within the town and neighboring states.
Another suspect, Quadri Lawal, and his cohorts also confessed that they would cut off the heads of their victims and use them for ritual purposes, including making black soap for “big men.”
Parading the suspects, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Oladapo, disclosed that other arrested criminal suspects were involved in kidnapping, the killing of an evangelist, and the cutting of human parts for money ritual purposes.
The commissioner emphasized the police’s commitment to tackling the scourge of ritual killings and other criminal activities in the state, vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice.
