The Alumni association, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has expressed a vote of confidence in the astute and progressive minded Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina and dismissed as unfounded and baseless allegations made by the Ben Faleye’s caucus of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), FUOYE branch against the VC.

In a statement signed by the FUOYE Alumni President, Mr. Temitope Arogundade, and made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, the Alumni association said:”
The Alumni Association of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) is compelled to respond to the recent unfounded allegations put forth by a faction of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), FUOYE branch, concerning our distinguished Vice Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina. The allegations presented, encompassing assertions of sexual harassment, intimidation, and mismanagement, are entirely baseless and clearly the result of individuals seeking to create discord. It is unfortunate that certain individuals, motivated by personal issues, have opted to tarnish the reputation of a leader who has significantly contributed to the transformation of the university into a top-tier institution of higher education.

“Under the guidance of Professor Fasina, FUOYE has undergone an impressive transformation marked by significant growth and advancement. In the last three years, the university has achieved remarkable progress in enhancing academic standards, boosting research output, and expanding its physical infrastructure. FUOYE has achieved recognition as one of the most desirable universities in Nigeria, securing the third position in popularity as reported by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The accomplishments reflect the exceptional leadership of Prof. Fasina, whose commitment to academic excellence, research, and development has positioned the university as a leader in Nigerian higher education.

“Alongside his academic and research leadership, Professor Fasina has been at the forefront of a significant transformation of the university’s infrastructure. FUOYE is currently bustling with activity, featuring a variety of projects designed to improve the campus and offer contemporary amenities for students and staff alike. The university’s physical development has significantly enhanced the campus environment and established FUOYE as a prominent entity in the regional academic landscape. The initiatives stem from the Vice Chancellor’s strategic vision and dedication to maintaining FUOYE’s competitive edge among leading universities in Nigeria and beyond.

“Prof. Fasina exemplifies exceptional leadership through his steadfast commitment to upholding a consistent academic calendar, guaranteeing that students experience no unwarranted interruptions in their graduation schedules. FUOYE’s stability has enabled it to meet the growing demand for higher education, ensuring that students enjoy a reliable and timely academic experience. The remarkable efficiency achieved here is a testament to the Vice Chancellor’s leadership and underscores his dedication to the university and its student body.

“The Alumni Association stands firmly behind Professor Fasina, affirming our steadfast confidence in his leadership capabilities. The recent claims put forth by the Faleye led caucus of SSANU FUOYE lack substance and serve merely to divert attention from the significant advancements achieved during his leadership. It is profoundly disheartening to witness the emergence of baseless allegations from individuals who, instead of acknowledging the Vice Chancellor’s achievements, opt to pursue personal grievances.

“The University Governing Council, the Federal Ministry of Education, and the National Universities Commission (NUC) are urged to dismiss these unfounded allegations and to maintain their support for Prof. Fasina as he guides FUOYE to even greater achievements. Under his leadership, the university has achieved significant milestones, making it essential for us to concentrate on furthering these successes instead of getting distracted by trivial political matters.

The Alumni Association continues to uphold the principles of innovation, integrity, transparency, accountability, and transformation that Prof. Fasina has advocated for over the years in office. Under Prof. Fasina’s guidance, the university community is poised to be motivated and uplifted for many years ahead. FUOYE is ready for a promising future, and with Prof. Fasina at the helm, the university is set to flourish as a premier institution of higher education in Nigeria.
We wish to emphasize our steadfast support for Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina and will persist in our commitment to bolster his initiatives aimed at advancing FUOYE to greater achievements. Under his leadership, the university has achieved remarkable advancements, and we are optimistic that even more significant successes will be realized before his tenure concludes. We strongly encourage all members of the FUOYE community and the public to dismiss these baseless claims and to concentrate on the significant positive impact that Prof. Fasina has made and continues to make for our esteemed institution.”
