Gbolarumi said the award of Grand Commander of Ibadan Culture (GCIC) and Most Patriotic Ibadan Indigenes (MPII) exemplifies the type of person Makanjuola is and that the title is well-deserved. He added that the award has proven to the world that there is dignity in labour and that Makanjuola has washed his hands clean, which is why he can now wine and dine with the elders.

Gbolarumi expressed that he is not surprised that Makanjuola was recognised by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) because he has been contributing to the development of Oyo State and Nigeria over the years. Gbolarumi wished Makanjuola well in his journey of life and appealed to him not to relent in his good deeds, noting that it is the only way to make the society a better place for everyone to live in.
