A former Deputy Governor in Oyo State, His Excellency, Hazeem Gbolarumi congratulated the reelected Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde advising him to move forward in his good administration in the State.
The Chieftain of ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state also revealed that he holds no grudge against the governor as believed in some quarters.
Gbolarumi who stated this while speaking with pressmen on Monday, gave the advice to Makinde who overwhelmingly triumphed in Saturday’s 18th March,2013, noting that people voted for him owing to laudable performances in the 1st Term including sound Education, functional security, economy .
“Seyi Makinde has won, election has come and gone, the way I look at it, it should be to him that there is no victory without battle”
“The best approach is to move forward and the dividends of democracy should be communicated to the common people in terms of infrastructure, security,health and education”
The PDP chieftain implored the State Governor to creatively unite all described aggrieved People’s Democratic Party, PDP members for more formidable team in the State ahead of 2027 while all contestants at the 2023 Guber Poll should throw off the bitter experiences of losses behind them, but form a unitary team with Makinde.
“The moment you are a successful politician, and that you believe so much in your state, especially in good delivery, the best is to take care of people related programmes
” Seyi Makinde should not see the victory as a self- acclaimed but for all and Oyo State as a whole”,
However, Gbolarumi urged aggrieved party members to bury their sentiments, rather rally round the 2nd Term re-elected governor, Makinde for a desirous development of the State, congratulated Gov. Makinde on a hallmark return to office in the State.
” Of course, we are all members of the same family, so the issue of coalition, sentiments do not matter anymore, Gov. Makinde is the father of all in the State, no exception,so far you are a bonafide of Oyo State, you are led by the governor”
” No doubt about it ,Governor Seyi Makinde has won and it is a great opportunity for me to greatly congratulate him, I wish him a good future in all his endeavours “,Gbolarumi added.
He reiterated that, Makinde must have learnt his lessons on events which preceded the gubernatorial and state assembly elections, and on what people are saying in connection with alleged orchestration of violence and lawlessness by Chairman, Park Management System(PMS) in the state, Alhaji Lamidi Mukaila known as ‘Auxiliary’.
Gbolarumi asked Makinde to take urgent steps on issue of insecurity which has subjected people to phobia and inability to sleep with two eyes closed.
Adding that, Makinde should also pay attention to extension of infrastructural developments to all nooks and crannies of pacesetter.
Gbolarumi hinted that education and health are essential pillars that sustain and make human being, asking the governor to expedite all actions on better standard of education and health care facilities across the local governments of Oyo State.
Meanwhile, former deputy governor in Oyo State, Gbolarumi insisted he is ready to work with Seyi Makinde, if formally assigned.
“Yes, Yes, why not? If he gives me any assignment ,I will do it. I can conveniently work with him. He is the governor of the state. As far as I am concerned, I am ready to deliver, if given that opportunity to serve my community, my people, why not?”,he concluded.
He however called on Makinde to jettison egoistic tendencies but be magnanimous to reach out to the aggrieved ones within PDP in order to build strong and formidable party ahead of subsequent elections.
