Gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey has taken legal action against four individuals for criminal defamation and cyberstalking.

Bassey’s lawyers submitted a petition to Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on April 1, 2024. The social media users had spread a false allegation that Bassey was the father of another gospel singer’s child, Mercy Chinwo causing it to go viral.

The lawyers have called on the police to investigate and prosecute the individuals named in the petition as Okoronkwo Ejike, Kingsley Ibeh, Terrence Ekot, and Dj Spoiltkid.
