Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is set to host the President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, in two weeks. The visit will focus on President Bio’s interest in touring the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub, a project that has gained both national and international recognition.

Governor Makinde announced the upcoming visit in a newsletter released late Thursday, highlighting its significance as the first time a sitting president will visit the Fasola hub.

“This visit is a testament to the quality of work we have done at Fasola,” Makinde stated. “One of the investors in the hub mentioned that it has transformed a once-sleepy village into a world-class agribusiness and tourism site.”

The governor also acknowledged the role of the Director General of OYSADA, Dr. Debo Akande, in making the Fasola project a reality. He noted that only a few finishing touches remain before the hub is officially commissioned.

Looking ahead, Makinde revealed plans to expand agribusiness development in the state, with the Eruwa Agribusiness Industrial Hub already in progress. He emphasized the state’s commitment to leveraging opportunities such as the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) to boost trade and economic growth.

Additionally, Makinde shared that he recently attended the African Business Forum (ABF) 2025 in Ethiopia, where he engaged in discussions with business leaders and initiated trade talks with the Republic of Benin.

“We are determined to ensure that Oyo State plays a pivotal role in the sub-regional economy,” he affirmed. “By establishing private-sector-driven structures, we will maximize our natural resources and entrepreneurial potential.”

The governor assured that further updates on these initiatives would be shared in the coming months.
