A group of armed men, suspected to be kidnappers, stormed Elyon Paradise Ministry in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, during a vigil on Friday, February 21, 2025. The attackers shot the church’s pastor and abducted six worshippers.
According to reports, the assailants struck around 10 p.m. near Delta State Polytechnic. Apostle Divine Aigbedosa Omodia sustained gunshot wounds and was hospitalized. His wife, Pastor Faith Omodia, recounted the terrifying ordeal, saying bullets tore through the church auditorium as she lay inside with her baby.
“My husband was shot in the lap and lost two fingers,” she revealed.
The attackers reportedly forced worshippers outside before abducting six people, including two security guards. The kidnapped individuals were identified as Helen Onwuamaeze, Ariyo Emmanuel, Chike Okolo, and Blessing Waye, while the names of the security guards remain unknown.
Authorities are yet to release further details regarding efforts to rescue the victims.
