The Igbaraodo Development Council has come to the defense of High Chief (Engr) Oyebanji Olowofela, denying his involvement in the kidnapping and killing of two monarchs in Ekiti State.

The community released a statement titled “Enough of Character Assassination and Campaign of Calumny Against High Chief (Engr.) Oyebanji Olowofela,” stating that Chief Olowofela is a well-respected figure in the community with a successful career as an electrical engineer and accomplishments in politics and business.

The statement refutes the allegations made against Chief Olowofela, claiming that he has always had impeccable character and has contributed significantly to the development of Igbara-Odo Kingdom, as well as to the economic and political development of Ekiti State and Nigeria as a whole. It highlights his achievements as a scholar, politician, Majority Leader of the old Ondo State House of Assembly, and Special Adviser on Political Affairs to the first Executive Governor of Ekiti State.

The Igbaraodo Development Council urges law enforcement agents to thoroughly investigate the allegations against Chief Olowofela and warns against social media trials and derogatory attacks on his person. They emphasize that no law enforcement agency has substantiated the allegations or issued an official statement regarding his arrest.

The community’s statement concludes with a warning to those spreading falsehoods about Chief Olowofela, stating that they could face legal consequences for their actions. They urge these individuals to cease and desist from spreading lies and damaging the reputation of innocent citizens.
