The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Youth in Parliament, Hon. Olamijuwonlo Ayodeji Alao-Akala, has reiterated the National Assembly’s dedication to enacting laws that promote youth involvement in policy-making and national development.
Hon. Alao-Akala emphasized this commitment during the commissioning of a state-of-the-art facility donated by Mr. Seyi Tinubu to the House Committee on Youth in Parliament, located on Mississippi Street, Abuja.
The facility features an e-library, a physical library, and a co-working space designed to support young parliamentarians in their legislative duties and foster collaboration on youth-focused initiatives.
The Young Parliamentarians Forum, an internationally recognized group comprising National Assembly members under 40, works to develop innovative ideas and engage young Nigerians in governance and parliamentary processes.
Representing Ogbomoso North, South, and Oriire Federal Constituency, Hon. Alao-Akala praised the donation for advancing youth representation. “This facility will serve as a hub for innovative ideas, youth-focused legislative activities, and stakeholder engagement, further solidifying the National Assembly’s commitment to empowering Nigeria’s youth,” he stated.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, also commended the initiative, describing it as transformative. “This innovative space provides an enabling environment where young people can strategize, discuss national progress, and contribute to youth-oriented legislation,” he said.
Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, expressed hope for its positive impact on youth engagement. “I wish this existed during my time as Speaker. This is a commendable platform for young legislators to deliberate on nation-building issues. I applaud Mr. Seyi Tinubu for this visionary project, which will undoubtedly enhance the legislative process for young parliamentarians,” Gbajabiamila remarked.
Dignitaries present at the event included members of the Young Parliamentarians Forum, other National Assembly members, and stakeholders committed to advancing youth inclusion in governance.
