42nd Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, passed away on Thursday night after a brief illness.

According to his younger brother, Sen. Kola Balogun, the late Olubadan was taken to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan on Wednesday morning after experiencing slight malaria fever.

Despite receiving well-wishers on Monday for his second anniversary on the throne, the 81-year-old monarch’s health deteriorated rapidly.
