The legal luminary, Chief Niyi Akintola has chided the Federal Government of Nigeria over the manner of approving license for the foreigners.
According to Akintola, the approval of licenses for foreigners should be done more cautiously, considering the potential risks involved. He criticized the government for not prioritizing the safety and well-being of Nigerian citizens and their properties.
The legal luminary also questioned the type of federalism practiced in the country, as he believed that the federal government should have shown support and concern for the incident in Ibadan. He noted that the lack of a visit or solidarity gesture from the federal government team towards the Oyo State governor was disheartening.
The explosion in Bodija area of Ibadan resulted in the loss of lives and properties, including Akintola’s hotel. The incident raises concerns about the overall safety measures in place and the need for stricter regulations, especially when it comes to granting licenses to foreigners.
Akintola’s frustration reflects the feelings of many Nigerians, who often feel neglected and ignored by the government when faced with challenges. This incident serves as a reminder that more attention needs to be given to the well-being and safety of the people, and proper checks and balances should be put in place to avoid future disasters.
