A Yoruba self-determination group, Apapo O’odua Koya has alleged that the bomb explosion in Ibadan, Oyo State was an act of terrorism aimed at wiping out the Yoruba leadership.
While validating its position, One Wale Adedayo on behalf of the group
said, “some patriotic Yoruba sons worked through the night after several investigative visits to the site of the explosion and its surroundings, with a firm conclusion that it was a massive bomb meant for the University of Ibadan Conference Centre, where Chief Bisi Akande’s 85th birthday held on Wednesday.
“A last minute decision by President Bola Tinubu to abstain from the event might have thrown spanners into the works of the planners. If Tinubu had attended, at least 95% of the Yoruba leadership would have been at the event. Thus the tragedy, had it succeeded, would have paved the way for a quick succession in Nigeria’s leadership, leaving the Yoruba beheaded.
“Dynamite, when stored, does not explode the way of the Ibadan explosion. It would have been a succession of explosions lasting at least 10 minutes, depending on the number of ready materials stored at the site. This one exploded at once, leaving a crater in place at its epicentre. That’s surely a military grade bomb!
“The working theory among our cadres is that the bomb was returned to where they picked it up from and was being dismantled before the explosion. There was a mistake in dismantling it, thus the incident. We knew Lagos and Ogun states were targets of these anarchists, who want to destabilize Yorubaland. But the Ibadan one caught us unprepared. Lessons have been learnt.
“It is left for our self-determination groups to renew strategies for the coming wahala. O maa ba oju ati imu ti o ba sele. Ifa should be Number One in their consideration, after which Etutu is next, not Oogun at all”, the group stated.
