Even after issuing a call for his supporters and volunteers to suspend activities aimed at promoting his gubernatorial bid, Engr. Dotun Sanusi received a visit from Islamic clerics from Ibadanland at his Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resorts in Oloyo village, Akanran, Ibadan on Wednesday.

The clerics, who came under the aegis of the League of Imams and Alfas from the 11 local government areas of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, said they had the blessing of the Grand Imam of Ibadan, Sheikh Abdul Ghaniyy Agbotomokekere, to visit the philanthropist.

Assuring Sanusi of their total support, the clerics described him as someone who has consistently supported the cause of everyone with love. They expressed their disagreement with Sanusi’s recent statement asking his supporters to suspend mobilization and campaign for his ambition, stating that they have seen qualities in him that he may not have seen in himself.

“We want you to run. We need a masses-friendly like you to come out. We are saying this because of the condition of the country at this point in time. Only people with love for the masses can bring smile to everyone’s face,” the clerics said.

They highlighted Sanusi’s philanthropic gestures, including reaching out to everyone without leaving anyone behind, lifting people out of unemployment, supporting community development projects, and more. They prayed for Allah’s continued support and rewards for Sanusi’s good deeds.

In response, Sanusi expressed appreciation for the visit and his desire to assist people, stating that he is not comfortable with having enough while some have nothing. He assured the clerics that with or without political power, he will continue to support the people, as his family is supportive of this gesture.
