High Chief Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin has been appointed as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland by the kingmakers in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Olakulehin, the current Balogun of Ibadanland, was nominated by the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Lateef Adebimpe, and his appointment was ratified at a meeting held at Mapo Hall on Friday.

The meeting, attended by Olakulehin and chaired by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rasidi Ladoja, also had other members of the Olubadan-in-Council present.

The vacancy for the Olubadan stool arose following the death of the 42nd holder, Oba Mahood Olalekan Balogun.

After the ratification, the High Chiefs will submit Olakulehin’s name to the state governor, Seyi Makinde, for endorsement. Once the government assents to his nomination, the official presentation of the staff of office and the beaded crown of Ibadan will take place, marking the commencement of his reign.
