The Ibadan Obas under the Olubadan of Ibadanland Advisory Council; Senior Chiefs and Association of Mogajis in Ibadanland on Thursday commended President Bola Tinubu over the appointment of ‘a shon of the soil’, Mr Babajide Fasina as the Southwest Executive Commissioner in charge of the Economic Regulation and Strategic Planning for the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

The President had on Tuesday approved the appointment of three new executive Commissioners to serve in the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the redeployment of one current executive Commissioner, pending their confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.

Fasina, a notable indigene of Ibadan is renown for his intellectual ability and professional skills in the petroleum industry with years of unmatched experience and technical know-how spanning sectors and most recently the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).

Oba Tajudeen Ajibola in his remarks on the appointment of Babajide Fasina said, “the Kabiyesi Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun and all his advisory council are happy that President Bola Tinubu found him worthy of the new role.”

“On behalf of Kabiyesi -the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Dr Senator Lekan Balogun Alli-Okunmade II, and my colleague-Obas across the local governments in Ibadan, we appreciate His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu for appointing our son to represent the Yoruba race in the Commission. We are praying for this administration to succeed and we are equally imploring our son to bring to bear, years of his experience and service to the nation in this new chapter of his career,” Oba Ajibola said.

Also commenting, a Senior Chief and Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Engr Dotun Sanusi hailed the appointment, describing it as well merited, long overdue and highly commendable.

Dotun Sanusi, owner of Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort, Akanran Ibadan maintained that, “stakeholders in the oil and gas industry are not surprised by Babajide Fasina’s appointment because he is a brilliant man with Midas Touch who would definitely make Mr President proud by working in concert with other Executive Commissioners to achieve the aims, objectives and vision of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the petroleum industry.”

Chief Asimiyu Ariori, President Association of Ibadan Mogajis said information from the stakeholders in the industry showed that, “our son, Babajide Fasina is a brilliant and highly intelligent careerist in the sector. And a seasoned professional like him in the regulatory body with track records of achievements is no doubt a round peg in a round hole”.

“Our father, Kabiyesi Olubadan with all the Obas in Ibadanland including our own Engr Dotun Sanusi and Baales are happy that President Bola Tinubu found him worthy of this position. May God bless the President and grant him more powers to continue to serve the country to the best of his ability,” Mogaji Ariori added.
