The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has filed over 70 pieces of evidence, including nude photos and messages, against a former Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar, Prof. Cyril Osim Ndifon.
Ndifon is facing trial for alleged sexual harassment, molestation, and rape. The offence carries a potential seven-year jail term if convicted. The ICPC has lined up 15 witnesses, mostly students, to testify against the professor.
Some students claim that Ndifon had sex with them forcibly, while others allege that he engaged in oral sex with them. One admission seeker claims that the professor had sex with her to secure her admission into the university.
Ndifon also faces allegations of abuse of office, as he was solely responsible for admission into the Faculty of Law at the time. The ICPC alleges that he unethically and habitually requested sexual gratification from female students in exchange for grades and mark upgrades.
Also, the commission accuses Ndifon of collecting unauthorized fees and diverting and misappropriating students’ journal fees. Ndifon has denied the allegations and is currently remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Service pending his admission to bail.
