Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has expressed outrage over the circulation of a video showing the indecent exposure of a female passenger involved in a recent unruly incident aboard an Ibom Air flight.
In a statement on Monday, Keyamo described the release of the footage as “totally unacceptable,” stressing that it was both a breach of decency and a violation of the passenger’s privacy.
The minister disclosed that preliminary findings indicate the video was recorded and shared by an airline staff member, an action he said undermines industry professionalism and public trust.
“This is a clear breach of privacy and decency,” Keyamo stated. “Regardless of the misconduct of the passenger, no one has the right to record and circulate such indecent images. The staff involved will face appropriate sanctions.”
He has directed the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to investigate the matter and ensure disciplinary action is taken against those found culpable.
The Ibom Air incident, which sparked heated discussions online, involved a female passenger who reportedly assaulted a flight attendant and was later removed from the aircraft. While the altercation itself attracted public criticism, many have also condemned the leak of the explicit video, calling for stricter enforcement of privacy protocols in the aviation sector.
Keyamo reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring safety, professionalism, and respect for human dignity in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
