Nollywood veteran actress, Iyabo Ojo has taken to social media to disclose that she is embarassed by the set of southwesterners that she refers to as her siblings, following the Governorship and State Assembly elections that were conducted in Lagos State on Saturday.
The brand influencer who made such disclosure through her official Instagram page, condemned the Lagos State gubernatorial and state assembly elections that were held on Saturday.
According to Iyabo Ojo, so many electorates in the state were intimated, injured and disenfranchised because they chose to vote for their preferred candidates.
Speaking further, the beautiful actress announced that;
“I don’t think after this election I am ever going to see some people the same again, I don’t think I will bring myself to relating with some set of people I once called friends. I don’t think anyone should be bullied, I don’t think anyone should be forced. I am so ashamed of some people that I call my brother or my sister from Yoruba land. At the level of desperation, at the level of oppression, at the level of tribalism that flows within their blood. Today, I’m so grateful to God that I was raised by my own grandmother who is not Yoruba because I don’t know how I will see myself if I have this tribalistic mindset. My father’s father is from Abeokuta, my mum’s mum is half Delta Igbo, I was raised by her. On my mother’s side, my mum’s dad is from Ijebu Ode. But does it make me a less Yoruba girl? If I’m to pick a State I’m from, I will definitely pick my father’s father state which is Abeokuta. It doesn’t make me less a Yoruba girl and it doesn’t make me less a Nigerian”.
