A Lagos couple, Mr. Abanishe Taofeek and Mrs. Abanishe Temitope, have been arrested by the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) over allegations of prolonged abuse of their 15-year-old son.
The arrest followed reports from concerned residents of Oreagba Street in the Olowu CDA, Grammar School area of Ikorodu, who alerted authorities after witnessing repeated incidents of physical assault on the boy. Officers from the LNSA Grammar School beat quickly responded and took the couple into custody.
According to a statement released on Saturday by the agency’s General Manager, Prince Ifalade Oyekan, the case has been handed over to the Igbogbo Divisional Headquarters for further investigation. He confirmed that the child, who showed multiple signs of physical abuse, has been taken to Ita-Elewa Primary Health Centre for medical treatment.
During interrogation, the couple reportedly admitted to the abuse and appealed for mercy.
Oyekan commended the proactive actions of the local community, especially the CDA chairmen who accompanied the victim to the Ikorodu Command Base. He reiterated the Lagos State Government’s zero-tolerance policy toward child abuse and pledged continued efforts to protect vulnerable children.
