Dear fellow members of the APC Oyo State,

In light of recent events at the OYSIEC Kangaroo, the shameful and worst-ever Local Government election in the history of Oyo State, I strongly believe that it is necessary for us to reflect on our actions and decisions that have led us to this point. In politics, loyalty and dedication to our party and its candidates are crucial, but we must also uphold the principles of internal democracy and fairness.

The events of yesterday, which have been viewed as shameful and the worst in Oyo State’s history, serve as a stark reminder of the repercussions of anti-party activities by many of our members and leaders. The handwriting on the wall, evident in the results and actions of the PDP in yesterday’s LG elections, reflects the consequences of our actions during the March 18th, 2023 Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly Election. We supported the worst candidates of the ruling party in the state, neglecting our moral and financial commitments to our own candidates. We forgot the saying, “It is better to be a friend to a reigning King than allowing your enemy to be on the throne.” The consequences of our anti-party activities were painfully evident yesterday.

We cannot deny that no sitting Governor would willingly allow the opposition to gain control at the local government level. However, the events of yesterday were a result of our own actions and inactions on March 18th, 2023. When digging a hole for your enemies, try not to make it too deep because your friend may be the one to fall into it. Anti-party activities undermine the democratic process and erode the trust of loyal party members and the electorate.

As members of the APC, it is crucial that we learn from our past mistakes. We have witnessed the detrimental effects of anti-party actions in both the 2019 and 2023 elections. Let us not allow history to repeat itself in 2027.

It is time for us to prioritize the greater good of our party and the people of Oyo State over personal agendas. We must stand united in support of our party’s candidates at all levels. Internal discord only weakens us as a collective force.

We acknowledge that our actions in the past have contributed to our current challenges. It is our responsibility to take ownership and commit ourselves to a path of unity and integrity.

Let us heed the lessons of the past and work tirelessly towards a brighter future for the APC Oyo State. Together, we can overcome obstacles and emerge stronger than ever before.

Thank you for your attention and unwavering commitment to the betterment of our party and our state.

Sincerely,

●Hon. Kazeem A. Alimi
