The Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN) has urged Nigerians to let their diversity in religion be a unifying factor and not the one that divide them.

The MULAN National President, Mr Kazeem Olaniyan gave the advice on Thursday during a news conference on the association’s 15th Annual General Conference (AGC) slated for Friday in Ibadan.

Olaniyan said that MULAN as a faith-based association, could not forget in a hurry how sharply divided religiously Nigerians were as a people and as a nation while seeking for political power.

He said that religion which supposed to be use as a unifying factor was now been used by politicians and religious leaders to set Nigerians against one another.

The national president called on politicians and religious leaders to let the difference in religions be a source of harmonious relationship for peaceful coexistence in Nigeria.

He called on all and sundry to hope for a better Nigeria, adding that the increase in prices of food and other commodities was not only the fault of government but also fault of Nigerians.

“We must all look at things we can do to solve the current challenges in Nigeria and that is what our annual general conference set out to do,” Olaniyan said.

He said the 2024 AGC of MULAN with the theme “National Development :The New Dynamics and Nuances” was to further examine the various dynamics and obvious nuances put on path to the national development to move as a nation and as people.

Olaniyan said that a careful selection of a team of experts have been assembled to do justice to the theme through their various presentation.

“Thirteen erudite speakers drawn from all the six geo-political zones of the country will speak at the conference.

“These eminent gentlemen and lady presenters comprising six professors, three senior advocates, two consultants/physicians, three educationists and a banker will discuss the theme and sub-themes in nine sessions and the grand Dinner,” he said.

He said that the conference will be declared opened on Friday by the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi SAN.
