In preparation for the April 2024 Local Government Elections, Oyo State governor ‘Seyi Makinde has directed his Special Assistants on Federal Constituencies to ensure the victory of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in their respective areas.

The governor made this known during the inauguration of the Special Adviser and Special Assistants on Federal Constituencies. He emphasized the need to extend the dividends of democracy to the people at the federal constituency level.

Governor Makinde acknowledged the challenges faced during the previous election, where the PDP lost in nine out of the 14 federal constituencies. He stressed the importance of making every constituent feel a sense of belonging and called on the Special Assistants to mobilize party members and rally support for PDP candidates in the upcoming local government elections.

The governor also recognized Chief Jacob Gbadebo Adetoro, who led the previous body of Special Assistants on Federal Constituencies, for his exceptional efforts in mobilizing people to address the needs of their respective constituencies. Governor Makinde expressed confidence in the abilities of the newly appointed Special Adviser on Federal Constituencies and urged him to do a commendable job, drawing from his experience in national politics.

The event was attended by prominent political figures, including the chairmen of the Oyo State Elders’ Council and the Oyo State Advisory Council, as well as commissioners and officials from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Makinde assured the Special Assistants of his full support in their responsibilities and expressed his belief in their ability to deliver victory for PDP candidates in the federal constituencies, as well as the upcoming bye-election in Saki. He reiterated his commitment to providing the necessary support needed for their success.
