Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday honored Major Rasaki Salawu (Rtd), the pioneer Director of Operations of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), with a brand-new car.
The gesture was in recognition of the retired officer’s significant contributions to traffic management in Oyo State and Nigeria at large. The presentation took place during the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration at the Remembrance Arcade, Government House, Agodi, Ibadan.
While handing over the vehicle, Governor Makinde acknowledged the challenges Major Salawu faced due to his vehicle’s condition. “They informed me about the difficulties you experience moving around because of the state of your vehicle,” the governor stated. “As a retired Major of the Nigerian Army, today, as we honor our fallen heroes, is the perfect moment to also recognize your service. On behalf of the Oyo State Government, I present this new car to ease your mobility. God bless you, sir.”
In his response, Major Salawu expressed deep gratitude to Governor Makinde and the state government for the recognition and support. He pledged to continue contributing to the improvement of traffic management in the state.
