A 62-year-old man was rescued in Moldova after being buried alive for four days. The incident occurred as police were investigating the murder of a 74-year-old woman in the same village.
On Monday, a relative discovered the elderly woman’s body in her home. Police arrested an 18-year-old suspect in her death and proceeded to search his residence. It was during this search that officers heard muffled cries for help coming from the ground nearby.
Quickly realizing someone was trapped underground, the police started digging and uncovered the entrance to a makeshift grave. Buried beneath the soil, they found the 62-year-old man, alive but with a neck wound.
Footage released on Wednesday shows the dramatic rescue, with the man being pulled out of the grave conscious, but in a precarious condition after enduring four days of being buried alive.
Authorities have not released the identities of the victim or the suspect, but the discovery of the buried man came as a startling development in the investigation into the 74-year-old woman’s murder.
