Captain Oluranti Ogoyi, a seasoned Nigerian pilot with over a decade of experience in the aviation industry, has found herself at the centre of a viral controversy involving legendary Fuji musician, K1 De Ultimate. The incident, which unfolded aboard a ValueJet aircraft, has drawn widespread attention after the veteran singer was prevented from boarding a scheduled flight under her command.
The confrontation reportedly began when K1 De Ultimate, real name Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, attempted to board a ValueJet flight despite being earlier barred from doing so. Captain Ogoyi, who was in command of the aircraft alongside her co-pilot, First Officer Ivan Iloba, made the decision to proceed with the flight, leading to a near-collision as the musician stood in close proximity to the moving plane.
The dramatic moment was captured on video and has since sparked widespread reactions online, with critics accusing the crew of recklessness and questioning the professionalism of their response. However, others have defended the flight crew’s actions, arguing that safety protocols were followed and that the musician’s conduct may have escalated the situation unnecessarily.

Captain Oluranti Ogoyi, popularly known among peers as “Rantilicious,” is no stranger to attention in the aviation space. A daughter of former Senator Felix Kola Ogunwale, who represented Osun Central from 2003 to 2007, Oluranti carved her own path in the skies. She began her commercial flying career with Arik Air, where she rose through the ranks to become a full captain in September 2021. Her official decoration was carried out by the airline’s leadership, including CEO Captain Roy Ilegbodu, Director of Flight Operations Captain Adetokunbo Adekunbi, and current NCAA Director General, Captain Chris Najomo.

Since moving to ValueJet a few years ago, Captain Ogoyi has continued to build a reputation for professionalism and calm authority. She is married to fellow aviator Captain Isaac Ogoyi Jr, who also flew with Arik Air before taking roles with RwandAir and, more recently, Uganda Airlines.
As investigations continue into the ValueJet airport fracas, Captain Ogoyi’s role remains under scrutiny. Regardless of the outcome, the incident has brought her further into the public eye, spotlighting the growing challenges faced by Nigerian aviation professionals amid rising celebrity-related incidents at airports.
