Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially approved the appointment of Prince Akeem Abimbola Owoade as the Alaafin of Oyo, marking a significant milestone in the history of the ancient kingdom. This decision brings a leader with a distinguished career, a strong commitment to community development, and a passion for Yoruba heritage to the revered throne.

Born into the respected Owoade-Agunloye royal family of Oyo, Prince Akeem Owoade is the descendant of Aremo Aderounmu Iyanda Owoade of the Agure Compound in Oyo town. His upbringing and accomplishments reflect a blend of tradition and modernity, making him uniquely qualified for the role of Alaafin.

Prince Owoade’s educational achievements underscore his dedication to excellence. After completing his secondary education at Baptist High School, Saki, in 1992, he pursued Mechanical Engineering, earning a National Diploma from The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, and a Higher National Diploma from The Polytechnic, Ibadan. His thirst for knowledge led him to the United Kingdom, where he obtained a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sunderland and Northumbria University, respectively. Additionally, he earned a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in 2015.

As the newly appointed Alaafin of Oyo, Prince Owoade brings a wealth of experience, education, and global perspective to the throne. His leadership is anticipated to herald an era of peace, prosperity, and cultural renaissance in Oyo Kingdom.

With his deep-rooted respect for Yoruba traditions and a forward-thinking approach, Prince Akeem Owoade is poised to guide Oyo Kingdom into a new chapter of unity and progress.
