Comfort Emmason, the young woman whose ordeal on an Ibom Air flight recently sparked nationwide conversations, has spoken publicly for the first time since her release from detention. Taking to her social media account on Sunday, Emmason shared an emotional statement about the trauma she has endured and the lasting impact on her personal and professional life.
“Since I was released, I cannot go outside again because my body is now outside,” she wrote. “My breast is now all over the internet. I can’t even go for job interviews anymore because my body is now outside. I am not even the social media type. Who will now marry me?”

The incident, which trended widely online, involved a confrontation on board an Ibom Air flight that eventually led to Emmason’s arrest and detention. She recounted the physical and emotional pain she suffered during the scuffle.
“I have been flying Ibom Airlines for years and I never experienced this,” she said. “It’s a lesson and a turning point for me as a woman and as a human. I’ve been well aware and tutored that I’m not entirely free from blame also, be it intentional or accidental. My swimsuit was dragged while I was being stripped n@ked. This is something that was clipped below my privates, imagine the pain as a woman.”
Emmason, who has faced intense scrutiny from the public, expressed regret about the situation but firmly defended herself against claims of unruly behavior.
“I will never lay hands on someone old enough to be my mother if she didn’t ass@ult me first,” she insisted. “It’s all in the past now and I wish everyone involved the best of luck. Thank you to everyone that helped in whatsoever way to speak, share, and demand for justice and fair hearing. I apologize about my behavior. I am not crazy, neither am I wayward. I have never been in such a situation in my life and I don’t wish it on my enemy.”
