Nationwide Fuel Scarcity Looms as IPMAN Demands N100bn Debt Payment

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has issued a warning of an impending fuel scarcity across the country if the federal government fails to settle its outstanding N100 billion debt.

In a statement released on Monday, the association accused the government of failing to meet its financial obligations, putting immense pressure on fuel distribution. IPMAN has now set a deadline for the authorities to clear the debt, warning of potential supply disruptions.

Many petroleum marketers, the group stated, are struggling to keep operations running due to the unpaid debt, making it difficult to restock fuel supplies. Without immediate government intervention, major cities could soon experience widespread shortages.

“We can no longer sustain operations under these harsh conditions. If the government does not act, we will have no choice but to suspend fuel distribution,” an IPMAN spokesperson warned.

The threat of scarcity comes at a time when Nigerians are already contending with high fuel prices and economic hardship. While the government has yet to respond, industry experts caution that any disruption in supply could worsen inflation and transportation costs nationwide.

As tensions escalate, long queues at petrol stations may soon become a reality if the dispute remains unresolved.
