Out of generosity and filial piety, a young Nigerian woman has sponsored her grandmother’s pilgrimage to Mecca, repaying the kindness her grandmother showed her in the past.

According to a TikTok video shared by user @lips_licking, the woman recounted how her grandmother had selflessly given her the savings meant for her own Hajj pilgrimage in 2022 to help the younger woman start a new life in Canada.

Fast forward to 2024, the woman was overjoyed to be able to repay her grandmother’s kindness by sponsoring the older woman’s long-held dream of performing the Hajj, the Islamic pilgrimage to the holy sites in Mecca.

The video has elicited an outpouring of reactions from social media users, who praised the woman’s actions and wished for blessings upon her and her grandmother.

“Sisterhood is proud of you my sister, God will continue to bless you,” commented one user, Pretty.

Another user, Adetutuadunniadex, wrote, “Hmmm what a wonderful grandma, and Almighty Allah will not your own children forget you for good too, insha Allah bikudirati Amiin.”

The story has touched the hearts of many, serving as a testament to the power of family, sacrifice, and the fulfillment that comes from honoring one’s elders and repaying their kindness.
