The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended 10 individuals for offenses ranging from rape and illegal abortion to financial fraud.
During a press briefing held at the Agodi headquarters on Friday, August 30, 2024, State Commandant Augustine Padonu revealed alarming cases under investigation. Notably, Aminu Victor, a 19-year-old from Adamawa State, was arrested for allegedly raping his boss’s 9-year-old daughter.
In a separate incident, three suspects have been detained in connection with the gang rape of a 16-year-old girl. The suspects—Qayum Babatunde, 18; Azim Gbadamosi, 19; and 43-year-old Mutiu Olaniyi, a commercial driver—are all residents of the Ibadan area. Additionally, a 23-year-old unlicensed nurse, Moshood Oyindamola, was arrested for performing an illegal abortion on the victim.
The NSCDC’s Tracking Unit has also been active in addressing financial crimes, with several suspects linked to various fraud schemes. Among them, Bakare Jide Damilare, 42, was arrested for conspiracy and fraudulently obtaining 17 million Naira by false pretenses related to the sale of a 2016 Toyota Highlander Jeep. Alongside Damilare, other suspects, including Alabi Victor, 25, and a trio comprising Abiodun Oluwafemi, Akinloye Sakirat Folasade, and Victoria Akanbi, are also facing charges for their respective roles in defrauding individuals and businesses.
Commandant Padonu assured the public that all suspects would be duly prosecuted upon the completion of investigations. He encouraged Oyo State residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the NSCDC or other security agencies.
The command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of the community, with a zero-tolerance policy towards crime.
