The Oyo State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Abideen Olajide popularly called Ejiogbe on Thursday in Ibadan appealed to the State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde to beware of the antics of Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya popularly called MC Oluomo who was sighted in Ibadan on Tuesday for a clandestine plot to destabilize the State.

Ejiogbe, national trustee of the NURTW who was flanked by Comrade Lekan Alesinloye, Alhaji Lateef Bello and others at a news conference in Ibadan said MC Oluomo and Samuel Kayode Agbeyangi held some meetings in Ibadan notably with a PDP chieftain (names withheld) in anticipation of creating tension and unrest in Ibadan over Union matters.

According to Ejiogbe, “these people came to Ibadan and held series of meetings and one of them was with a chieftain of the PDP. We have it on good authority that they came to create further crisis in the NURTW by using the PDP Chief as their backer to see the Governor.”

Alhaji Abideen Ejiogbe spoke further, “For the record purpose, they are out on a sinister move to cause tension across motor parks and further cause confusion among the residents of Ibadan and the State in general.

“We don’t need any illegal group to plead with the Governor to return us to motor parks as Union Leaders and Members. His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde is our own and we are talking and hoping for a fruitful recognition of our leadership to support the revenue generation of the State in due course.

“Those who have lost out in the courts; Musliudeen Akinsanya and Kayode Agbeyangi who were reported to storm Ibadan on Tuesday were outlawed individuals as far as our Union’s leadership is concerned.

“We know ourselves in Oyo State and our Governor knows there is a subsisting court case. Since the purported proscription of NURTW in the State, we have been following all legal means to resolve our matters with the State Government and reasons are already prevailing with His Excellency.

According to Alhaji Abideen Ejiogbe, “We have been in this struggle for about six years now and we have never resorted to self-help but rather been engaging in dialogue with the Government. The matter we have in court with the State Government is ongoing and we are law abiding citizens like our Governor.

“His Excellency should not allow those elements to destabilize the peace of our State. What they (Oluomo and his gang) are looking for is to cause further chaos in Ibadan and the State in general.

“We remain committed to the Alhaji Tajudeen Baruwa’s presidency because he is the de facto president of NURTW in the eyes of the law and by popular demand of members in the Southwest States and the entire federation,” Ejiogbe added.
