The highly anticipated inaugural edition of the Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival kicks off tomorrow, December 19, 2024, with a series of events celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Ogbomosoland. The five-day extravaganza will run until December 23, aiming to promote unity, cultural pride, and economic development in the region.
Prince Williams Adeleye, chairman of the organizing committee, announced that the event will feature prominent guests, including the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Oluseyi Makinde; the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musawa; top government officials; tourism enthusiasts; and various indigenous clubs and associations.
The carnival is a key element of Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, Soun of Ogbomosoland’s 25-year development agenda. It promises to offer vibrant displays of local cuisine, traditional dances, and Ogbomoso’s famed masquerades.
Event Highlights
Day 1 (December 19): Opening ceremony.
Day 2 (December 20): Installation of the Araba Oluawo of Ogbomosoland, Odun Oole, and a special Jumat service at the palace.
Day 3 (December 21): Sporting activities.
Day 4 (December 22): First-year thanksgiving and special prayers for Oba Ghandi at the Ogbomoso Baptist Conference Center.
Day 5 (December 23): Grand finale at the Ogbomoso Township Stadium.
Prince Adeleye assured attendees of comprehensive safety measures to protect local and international visitors.
