Nigerian music sensation Davido, real name David Adeleke, has sparked retirement rumors in the music industry due to the increasing pressure and competition he is facing. The popular singer hinted at stepping away from the spotlight after his next album, citing the overwhelming demand for his exit by fans.

Yall niggas really want me out the game that bad ?? Oya after next album I no do again . So una fit get peace

— Davido (@davido) May 9, 2024

This decision comes amidst ongoing online clashes with fellow superstar Wizkids, also known as Adedeji Balogun, adding fuel to the retirement speculations. Davido had previously mentioned his retirement plans in August last year, signaling a potential shift in his career.

In a video interview shared last year on Instagram by blogger Tunde Ednut, Davido expressed his concerns about reaching a phase where his music no longer elicits a passionate response from his audience. He emphasized that every artist experiences career fluctuations and asserted his intention to retire before his popularity diminishes.

“The only thing I’m really scared of is that moment when people cry and go crazy when I get on stage. But it’s going to get to a point where it’s going to start slowing down in my career, everybody goes through it. I never want to get there. I’m gonna retire before I turn sour,” Davido stated.

As fans speculate on Davido’s future in the music industry, his looming retirement plan raises questions about the future trajectory of his celebrated career.
