Olowofela, Segelu mourn passing of Olubadan, Oba Olalekan Balogun

The Federal Character Commissioner and Oyo State former Commissioner for Education,  Professor Adeniyi Olowofela has joined prominent Nigerians to mourn the passing of Olubadan of Ibadanland,  Oba Olalekan Balogun who died on Thursday night.

Also, the German based Nigerian politician, Hon. Olayinka Segelu also commiserated with family of thevlate monarch.

In their separate statement on Friday, both Olowofela and Segelu expressed their deep sadness and condolences to the family of Oba Olalekan Balogun, as well as the entire Ibadan community.

Professor Adeniyi Olowofela, who is serving as the Federal Character Commissioner and was also a former Commissioner for Education in Oyo State, described the late Olubadan as a great leader who contributed immensely to the development of the Ibadan community. He highlighted Oba Balogun’s dedication to education and progress, noting that he was a strong advocate for improving the standard of education in the region.

Hon. Olayinka Segelu, a Nigerian politician based in Germany, also expressed sadness at the passing of Oba Balogun. He mentioned that the late monarch will be remembered for his commitment to the welfare and prosperity of the Ibadan people. Segelu noted that Oba Balogun’s reign brought peace, unity, and progress to the community, and he commended his efforts in fostering a harmonious relationship with different ethnic and religious groups in Ibadanland.

Both Olowofela and Segelu called on the people of Ibadan, as well as the entire Oyo State, to unite and support the new Olubadan in continuing the legacy of progress and development that Oba Balogun left behind. They urged the community to remain peaceful and resilient, emphasizing that unity is crucial for sustained growth and advancement.

The passing of Oba Olalekan Balogun has indeed left a void in Ibadanland, as he was known for his exemplary leadership and dedication to the welfare of his people. The condolences and heartfelt messages from prominent figures like Olowofela and Segelu further demonstrate the impact made by the late monarch and the profound sense of loss experienced by the community.
