His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin I), has called on Edo indigenes residing in Ibadanland to continue being law-abiding citizens.
The Olubadan gave this charge on Monday during a courtesy visit by Edo indigenes to his palace at Oke Aremo, Ibadan.
Represented by Senior Chief Raifu Amusa Eleruwere, the Ekefa Balogun of Ibadanland, the monarch expressed gratitude for the visit, noting that many non-indigenes in Ibadan had yet to pay such a gesture. He encouraged the Edo community to continue their activities without fear, emphasizing the importance of peaceful coexistence.
Speaking on behalf of the visiting delegation, Chief Joseph Saliu, leader of the Edo indigenes in Ibadan, congratulated the Olubadan on his successful ascension to the throne. He noted that Edo people had lived in Ibadan for over 40 years, contributing significantly to the city as business leaders, professionals, and community members, including lawyers, doctors, engineers, and entrepreneurs.
Chief Saliu also commended the Olubadan and his Advisory Council for fostering peace and harmony in Ibadan, a city renowned for its cultural and social integration.
Dignitaries present at the event included Chief Ademola Odunade, the Asiwaju Olubadan of Ibadanland, Aremo (Barr.) Sunmbo Owolabi Olakulehin, and Mr. Kolawole Balogun, among others.
