The former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Ondo State, Charles Titiloye, faced humiliation as he was booed and taunted by workers at the state Ministry of Justice.

This unprecedented event followed the dissolution of the State Executive Council by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. The incident, captured in a trending video, showcases the heated emotions of the disgruntled workers and sheds light on the strained relationship between the commissioner and his staff.

The Dramatic Scene:
Workers at the Ministry of Justice gathered in the corridor, blocking the commissioner’s path as they chanted abusive songs and expressed their dissatisfaction. The video, which has been widely shared online, portrays the intensity of the situation as the workers waited for Titiloye to exit the premises after the announcement of the council’s dissolution. Despite the presence of security operatives, the workers remained undeterred, persistently booing the commissioner.

The Intervention:
To defuse the escalating tension, a team of policemen arrived at the scene. Their presence, however, failed to pacify the furious employees who were determined to make their grievances known. Eventually, Titiloye left his office guarded by police officers and swiftly departed from the premises.

Immediate Effect of the Dissolution:
Governor Aiyedatiwa’s decision to dissolve the State Executive Council also affected all Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants, with immediate effect. A statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, directed the officials to hand over all government properties in their possession. The governor thanked the affected officials for their services and contributions to the state’s development.

Background and Political Context:
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa assumed office as the substantive governor of Ondo State following the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. Akeredolu had transferred power to Aiyedatiwa before his death, resolving a crisis stemming from his failure to hand over to his deputy upon returning from Germany in September 2023. This episode adds to the political turmoil and tensions within the state.

Conclusion:
The incident involving the disgraced Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State highlights the strained relationship between the commissioner and his staff, culminating in a public confrontation. As Governor Aiyedatiwa begins a new chapter in his administration, it remains to be seen how he will address the grievances and heal the divisions within the Ministry of Justice.
